Terms of Service, Effective 1/1/2020

BostonYPA has developed the following Terms of Service to protect the safety and integrity of our Community.

Event Policies:

  • Unless otherwise indicated, all events are for those over the age of 21. Should someone purchase a ticket to an event while being under 21, they will not be admitted to the event, and they will not receive a refund.

  • Unless otherwise indicated on the calendar listing on our website, tickets are non refundable once we are 7 days from the event. For example, if the event is being held at 6pm on March 21st, 2023, the ticket is not refundable if the request is received after 6pm on March 14th, 2023.

  • Should BostonYPA need to cancel an event, (historically this has happened during a blizzard in 2017 and a heat wave in 2019, but is not a common practice) attendees will have the option of a refund, or to transfer their ticket to the postponed date, or a future event. Attendees will be notified by email, and will be given a minimum of a week to make a decision on how we should handle their ticket.

  • By purchasing a ticket, you are giving BostonYPA the responsibility to provide a service to you. We will take on costs associated with your attendance, and count your ticket towards the total capacity allowed for the event. In the occurrence that you do not use your ticket, it is not transferable to a future date.

  • Tickets purchased for our After 5 Socials and Networking Nights may be transferred to someone else of your choosing, up until noon of the day the event is being held. BostonYPA must be notified of this change, either by making an adjustment in your Eventbrite account to change the attendee name, or by emailing our team at events@bostonypa.com

  • Safety is our priority. Our events, even when social in nature, are for professionals. A professional demeanor is expected and inappropriate behavior is not tolerated. Should a team member witness inappropriate behavior, or should we receive a complaint about an attendee, the attendee will be asked to leave immediately.

  • Someone who is not able to behave appropriately and show respect for all attendees will be banned from all social and singles events permanently, and upon a second complaint, will be banned from all events.

Membership:

  • When choosing to become a Member, you confirm that you are over the age of 21, that the benefits we offer our members would support your needs, and that you understand that the majority of the events we host are in Boston, and all of the events we host to be in the state of Massachusetts, with the exception of group travel.

  • The Young Professional, Young Executive, and Business Memberships are individual memberships. Benefits and event access is for the person indicated in the “full name of member” section of the enrollment details.

  • The Local Business Membership is for employees of the business obtaining the membership.

  • Sharing your member code, registering someone additional with your code, and sending a non member to attend in your place is prohibited.

  • When choosing to become a Business Member, and by sending us your logo, you are confirming that we have the right to post your logo on our website and share it in a eNewsletter in an effort to thank you for the support you are giving BostonYPA.

  • Membership dues are non refundable.

  • Termination of Membership - you may terminate your membership at any time by contacting us directly, or by unsubscribing to the eNewsletter that members receive.

  • Reasons BostonYPA may terminate your Membership:

    • Inappropriate behavior witnessed at events

    • Complaints from other members or event attendees

    • Theft

    • Harassment

    • Inappropriate posts in group forums which includes offensive, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, profane and abusive posts, and spam activities to other members or those you meet an an event.

    • Abuse of Member Resources

  • Member RSVP: Member RSVP typically opens 2 weeks before the event. The preferred RSVP method is to use the links in your member eNewsletter. This will allow us to collect your name tag information (if applicable), you will have the option for a calendar download, and you will receive any reminder and recap emails.

  • Canceling your RSVP: When members RSVP, we hold space for them at the event, and incur costs related to their attendance. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible. This can be done by logging into Eventbrite to cancel your ticket, or by emailing events@bostonypa.com

  • If you don’t cancel your RSVP, you will be wasting member resources and when we reach capacity, you are blocking someone else from being able to attend. We understand that something could come up, however we also want successful events and to keep membership dues as low as possible. For this reason, when you don’t utilize the space you reserved, we’ll will send you a friendly reminder after the first and second time. The third time you reserve space at an event and do not cancel your RSVP before the start of the event or attend the event, you will be forfeiting the remainder of your Membership term. You will of course be welcome to restart your Membership by contributing Membership Dues again.

  • Guest Passes: Members may receive Guest Passes either as an incentive for inviting a new member to join our community, or at the discretion of our Board for larger professional events. Guest passes allow you to bring an additional person to a BostonYPA event that you are attending. This can be an event that is included in your Membership, or a special event that you register for and then bring a guest at no cost.

    • To RSVP for your guest, first register yourself, then email events@bostonypa.com your guest’s name and email address.

    • Guests must be over 21 years of age, and the same safety and conduct expectations apply to your guest.

Job Board:

  • By purchasing a Job Post on BostonYPA’s Job Board, you confirm the following:

    • the employer is an equal opportunity employer
