Karma

To err is human (as is to gossip, be frustrated on the job, or speak ill of a co-worker.) However, no matter what industry or role you are in, there are opportunities to practice good karma.

Work can be a cutthroat place, and opting to take the high road can be a tough choice to make. At Pitch, we’ve certainly had our own share of disfunctional working environments, where it took all our good sense not to walk out on a daily basis. What we’ve learned through it all is that things have a way of coming full circle.  We believe karma is legit and so in order to keep your noses clean, we follow this one rule:

Leave things better than how you found them.

Not just the company kitchen, or the supply room. Think bigger - your relationships with colleagues and clients, your sales strategies & numbers, marketing plans and anything and everything you touch. You may have challenges, obstacles and issues to overcome on a daily basis, but when all is said and done - in a month, a year, or several years, how will others reflect on the impact you made in your workplace?

You’ll never know when karma will come back around - one day, your subordinate or intern could end up hiring you for a project or job. Or, perhaps you’ll never have the opportunity to bear witness to karmic retribution. Either way, it’s better to look back with pride, and know that you left a place with your head held high, proud of the work you did, and appreciated for your efforts.
