I had the pleasure of hosting a Table for 10 dinner at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar last night in the company of a wonderful group of BYPA members.
We all enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu: a 3-course meal from one of Boston's top-rated restaurants. Everyone opted for either the Caesar salad or the Ahi tuna for their starter. I had the salad and it combined the classic tastes of lettuce, Caesar dressing, and mustard for a rich and zesty beginning to my meal.
For the entree, we all savored either the Mixed Grill (a cut of 6 oz. filet mignon, accompanied by two baked, stuffed shrimp) or the 8 oz. filet. The meat was well seasoned, melted in your mouth, and was an absolute delight. The shrimp were delectable and I could not get enough of the stuffing that surrounded the top of this seafood delight.
Dessert was magnificent -- nearly everyone enjoyed the cheesecake drizzled with blueberry sauce and fresh blueberries on and around the creamy pastry; one member of our table raved about the chocolate turtle pie.
The meal was exquisite, as was the service, but my biggest takeaway from the event was the company and conversation. This was a group of intelligent, well-educated adults -- our conversations ranged from the silly to the sublime. This was the perfect venue to get to know each person at the table and we felt incredibly comfortable doing so -- food brings people together, as does an intimate setting. Our table was in the back room, which lent itself to hearing everyone at a perfect volume.
When it was all said and done, the wine as poured and the conversation kept on flowing; we made new friends, got to sample one of Boston's best for a fantastic price, and discovered yet another way to meet like-minded professionals through the BYPA. I will post photos to my profile, so you can see the fun we had at Fleming's.
Hope to see you at a future BYPA event!
