Review of last night's Professional Networking
Last night at Blu was awesome. The food was great, the bartenders were responsive and friendly. I love the windows in that place. And it's such a great, central location with inexpensive parking! ($10 for valet for 3 hours, or $5 self parking!)
So enough gushing about Blu. Some of the other things I loved about last night were:
- Lots of regulars, plus a lot of new members too. We had a great crowd of 50-60 people there, and they all seemed to be making some great connections.
- I think the ice breaker went well. I do think we could have used a little more space for it, but people by enlarge seemed to enjoy it and made connections there as well.
- I think the organization benefits from having different types of events, so I was really happy to see the professional networking event go over so well.
We also found out last night that Blu has a roof deck! So next month we will likely be taking advantage of that!

I have to say I didn't love the ice breaker. Personally, I find it extraordinarily difficult to make legitimate business connections in such a short time period. It felt like you are introducing yourself, throwing business cards at each other then moving on.
Other than that I thought it was excellent, and the food was delicious.

Did others feel this way? The idea was really to get people to meet a few new contacts they hadn't already, and then once the ice breaker was over they could reconnect. We could lengthen the time of each "connection" if many felt each meetings were too short.
