Job Description: Career Cadence Seminar Leader
Graduating from a 4-year college doesn’t mean you know what to do after graduation, let alone what career to pursue. The goal of Career Cadence is to help people say, "I know what I want to do with my career, and here’s why." We use interactive group seminars, supported by a one of a kind career assessment, to deliver personalized career direction and marketing strategy to college students and young professionals. Career Cadence is launching new programs in September 2010 in Boston, New York City, and Connecticut.
We are looking for Seminar Leaders in these locations. Seminar Leaders will co-lead groups of up to 20 people through 2.5 hour-long sessions. Using our curriculum, they will walk seminar participants through the results of their Distill TM Assessment, educate seminar participants on job functions and industries, tell stories about working and job seeking, and help individual students work through seminar exercises. Our Seminar Instructors must enjoy presenting and be skillful at engaging audiences. They must be skilled at creating and facilitating a conversation between students and the instructor. They must also enjoy helping others succeed and feel comfortable providing encouragement and advice to others.
We will provide formal training to our instructors that will explain our curriculum and what needs to be taught. Nonetheless, a really valuable part of the session will be the instructor’s own experience working, so we prefer instructors with at least a few years of work experience.
This is a contract work position to be done part-time. Seminars will run in the evenings and on weekends. The goal will be for each instructor to have 4.5 hours of session time per week, but instructional time will depend upon demand. Starting wage is $50 per hour.
Bachelors Degree with at least 4 years work experience
Experience facilitating small group discussion in any capacity strongly preferred
Background in career development, or life coaching a plus
Experience communicating with students and/or young professionals
Knowledge of the job functions and industries in today’s economy
Ability to work in the early evening & weekends
