A Community of Professionals Ages 21-45 Brought Together By Events

Hi there,

I recently started working from home 100% of the time as a freelance web designer. I enjoy the flexibility of this, but I miss the personal interaction of being out at an office. I know that there are groups such as Jelly that meet once in a while to work together, and there are groups such as this one for networking events. However I was wondering if anyone here might be interested in getting together a few times a week to work?

Thanks!
Cayte

Hi Cayte -
That sounds perfect for me. I'd love to talk to you about this! I am a freelance photographer and I often feel the same way. Where are you based? I'm in Somerville.

Hi Cayte, I am very much interested in your proposal. I am a freelace application developer and I am also a wedding photographer, my family and I co-own a bridal boutique in Framingham. I would love to brainstorm ideas of how to utilize your idea. Please email me at bostonbridal@gmail.com if you'd like to discuss more.
I really like this idea too. I'm just starting out on my own in the marketing and PR field and miss the motivation and inspiration that just being in a room with others can create. I'm south shore but would love to meet up whenever!

I'm not a freelancer, but I do work at home -- and it's nice to be around other human begins sometimes :) I'd like to give this a try sometime, though I do sit in a lot of meetings. Let me know what you end up working out!
I think Waltham is a central location, I am based in Framingham. Do you think maybe we can *shop* around to se if we could get a good deal with a part time office one day or days a week and we can share the cost. I have tried one in Westborough at one time, they let you use conference too, so it comes in handy. Just a thought.
I am not affliliated with any of the office for rent, it just a thought, I am open to other ideas.
Definitely some good ideas in here. Some libraries also let you use their facilities for free, including conference rooms, so that's worth investigating as well.

I didn't know libary offers conference rooms, that is neat. My only reservation is that libary is a place that supposely to be very quiet, I think Cayte really wanted to have an enviroment where we can chat and network also, but I don't know the detail of the libary conference rooms, it is worth a try.
I'm not too sure of what Waltham's libraries can offer, however I do know of a great FREE space in Dedham (also not too far):

the church street location has a "history room" that can be reserved and is semi private. Doors can be closed and it doesn't need to be a super quiet atmosphere (they would probably frown on anything too loud or music playing). Their hours are 10-5 or later durring the week and we'd just have to call ourselves a "non-profit" to justify the free space (and i doubt they would ask for documentation).
Hey guys, thanks for all the responses! :) Maybe we can work something out... I was thinking of trying to avoid renting or paying for a space to save on costs, but that might be more feasible. Also, I live in Brookline and don't have a car, so I'd prefer to stay around Boston if possible, although I may be able to do one day a week or so somewhere else, as long as it's accessible by public transportation (or someone wants to carpool). There's also this coworking spot on Newbury Street in Boston that I was thinking about, but again, there's a monthly fee... might be another option though: http://www.techsuperpowers.com/digilounge
well brookline's public library has a conf. space:
http://www.brooklinelibrary.org/what/meeting-rooms
it's $50 to book space and free wi-fi
if we can get a group of around 8 or 10 people it's definately affordable and cheaper than TSP.
