I've been a BYPA member for quite sometime but never really participated in any of the events. It was until I got laid off in '09 that I figured it was time to get more involved and expand my networking base. It took awhile, got a part time job at Banana Republic (in Copley) just to work in the Back Bay/Copley area and get myself familiar with all the hot places to shop, eat and be seen, I also got involved as a club promoter bringing people to the hottest clubs in Boston...but I wanted more and when I saw an opening for new Board Member position, I thought this would probably be the best way for me to meet many more interesting people and do lots of fun things! So I finally got enough courage to apply for the position (because I was nervous). Then I met with Anne and the rest of Board and when it was all said and done, I was officially a BYPA Board Member, whoo hoo!!!...and it was from there things began to take off! Meeting so many members, making new friends, expanding on my network base and getting members to come out and party at the clubs with me. It has been a great first year for me bringing events to all of YOU our members from New Member Mixers, Single Mingles, Networking sessions, Pub Crawls, etc!
I could go on and on about the great things that BYPA has done for me especially in this past year BUT I think the BEST so far was just last week 3/29/11 at our New Member Mixer, I meeting with so many of our members taking about BYPA, etc...when I approached to meet for a interview, which finally landed me a JOB on 4/1/11 ( I thought it was a April Fools joke), I knew things would start getting better for me, just didn't think so soon!!!
Hmmm, I think I've done it, haha!
Thanks BYPA for 8 great years (let's keep it going!!!!), taking a chance and allowing me to show you what I can do!
Happy Anniversary!!!!

Permalink Reply by FJ Cassidy Jr. on April 12, 2011 at 2:18pm BYPA is a great way to network for personal and business reasons, find new friendships, etc. What attracted me to the organization is that its well known in the Boston area, variety of events, and the size and reach of its membership. There are so many different events for your particular taste. If you are reading this and you are typically looking for things to do or to meet new people, you should really be keeping up and checking the website often for new events so you don't miss out on some great oppotunities. BYPA is a great organization, with a good reputation, with some great people, which is really a testimate to its 8 years of success.
